On May 4, the Israeli Supreme Court, sitting as a High Court of Justice (HCJ), issued its long-awaited judgment in Abu Aram v. Minister of Defence—a dispute concerning the designation of an area in the southern part of the West Bank as a closed military area. Litigation started in 1997, and the judgment, issued 25 years later, rejects all claims made by Palestinians adversely affected by the closing of the area.
