Escape from D.C.: Analyzing Jan. 6 Venue Transfer Motions

Five leaders of the Oath Keepers paramilitary organization are set to go to trial in late September on seditious conspiracy charges in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. That will be just two months after the conclusion of a series of eight Jan. 6 committee hearings, broadcast live to audiences nationwide as large as 20 million people in June and July. Those hearings portrayed the group as dangerous and violent extremists who played a crucial role in the January 6 insurrection.
